Safety on LAAR

LAAR connects buyers and sellers, but every deal happens between the two of you. These steps can reduce the risk.

LAAR does not process payments, inspect items, or take part in any transaction. Always use your own judgement.

Before you deal

Ask questions in chat and request extra photos of the actual item.
Compare the price with similar ads — an unusually low price is a warning sign.
Keep the conversation on LAAR so there is a record of what was agreed.
Check the seller's profile, verification steps and reviews.

Meeting in person

Meet in a busy public place during daylight.
Bring someone with you, especially for expensive items.
Tell a friend or family member where you are going and when.
Inspect and test the item fully before handing over any money.

Paying and getting paid

Avoid deposits or advance payments to someone you have not met.
Be careful with money-transfer requests from people you do not know.
For vehicles and property, verify ownership documents before paying.
Count and check money at the moment of handover, not later.

Protecting your account

Never share a one-time verification code with anyone.
Never share your password, and use a password you do not reuse elsewhere.
Do not post your ID documents or bank details in chat or in an ad.
Sign out on devices that other people can use.

Common warning signs

Pressure to decide immediately or to pay before seeing the item.
A request to move the conversation off LAAR straight away.
An offer to pay more than the asking price, or a refund-style overpayment.
A story that keeps changing, or a seller who refuses a meeting.
